Get to know your enemy: Cyber Security Awareness Month 2026

This Cyber Security Awareness Month, Prventi is launching four short games designed to help you recognise, remember and use the language of online safety.

Explore Prventi’s four cyber security awareness games for October 2026 and practise recognising threats, recalling security terms and making safer decisions.

Cybercriminals benefit when a message creates just enough urgency, uncertainty or familiarity to make us act before we think. A delivery notice arrives at the right moment. A caller sounds like someone we know. A login page looks almost right. The safer response often begins with recognising what is happening quickly enough to pause.

Know the term. Recognise the pattern.

That is why this year's Prventi campaign starts with vocabulary. Terms such as phishing, spoofing, credential stuffing, deepfake and multi-factor authentication give names to patterns you may encounter. When the label and the pattern are familiar, it becomes easier to notice the warning signs, talk about the risk and choose a safer next step.

Prventi’s four cyber security awareness games each offer a different way to practise recognising, recalling or connecting security terms:

  • ThreatGrid helps you recognise security terms hidden in a grid.

  • Threatle asks you to recall a five-letter security term.

  • Hackman gives you practice recalling a security term one letter at a time.

  • ThreatConnex asks you to group related concepts and see how they fit together.

Every completed game includes a plain-English debrief. Take a moment to connect the term to a message, account or request you might encounter at work or at home.

Put the learning into practice

The games are intentionally brief and low stakes. Practising recall and returning to concepts over time can support longer-lasting recall. Research on retrieval practice and spacing supports the value of practising recall and revisiting information over time.

Different game formats give you more than one way to revisit those concepts. Each week connects the language to a real scenario and one practical action you can use at work or at home.

The 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme is 'Don't Make It Easy for Them'. Our contribution is simple: Know the term. Spot the threat. Make the safer move.
